WW1 Imperial German M16 'Stahlhelm' A very nice, complete & untouched helmet. On the inside of the shell is a hand written inscription 'Montauban 1918.

The village of Montauban was to become famous for operations during the battle of the Somme in July 1916, it was taken and lost several times, being recaptured for the final time by the 18th division on 26th August 1918.

The original liner is intact, including the drawstring and shows no signs od disturbance. The original M91 chin strap is present & intact. 70% plus original field grey paint intact, some areas of surface rusting. Maker marked E.T (Eisenhuttenwerke) size is a 64.

Agood example of the classic Great-War German helmet, linked to a famous western front battlefield.
