Rare Imperial German S71 Saw-Back Bayonet & Scabbard

Imperial German S71 saw-back bayonet & scabbard. The 18.5" blade is maker marked 'F.A HERMES' & is dated 1876, it is bright with a little staining, the teeth are very good. Unit marking on the cross guard to the 32nd Inf Regt. Press stud free & working. The brass mounted leather scabbard is clean with tight stitching, there is a crease to the middle section which is the norm on these longer scabbards. Unit marked, but not matching.

Originally for the 11mm Gew 71, they also fit & were issued with the later Gew 88, seeing limited WW1 service. A very rare piece in good condition.
